Ukraine Update: Why Ukraine Will Win the War

Today, I will not focus on the ongoing fighting on the front lines. There are a few reports of battles and missile attacks, but no significant changes. Instead, I offer a wider perspective on what we can expect to the end of the year. As you can see, there are reasons to be optimistic about the trends at work.

For me, the main “story” emerging is that Russia is weaker and Putin’s grip on power more fragile than has been reported. And there are indications that Joe Biden has decided that he wants to end the war sooner rather than later. In other words, he is no longer concerned about escalation risks. Finally, Ukraine’s strategy of making Russian defenses on Crimea unsustainable appear to be working.

All good news for a Saturday morning!
