The meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin went on for a long time. Apparently, Trump would have liked it to go on longer. One wonders why. What was the dude trying to accomplish? Or does he simply have a thing for Vlad? A man crush?
One thing he was trying to accomplish, apparently, was to try to get a resolution of the Russian election hacking scandal. Huh?`That is the best explanation for Trump floating this idea – discussing with Vlad the creation of an
“impenetrable Cyber Security unit so that election hacking, & many other negative things, will be guarded and safe.”
One can imagine what Vlad was thinking when he heard this. “Is this guy dense or what?”
“It’s not the dumbest idea I’ve ever heard, but it’s pretty close,”
Hmmm … there are even dumber ideas out there??? That is a scary thought!
Senator John McCain said this
“I am sure that Vladimir Putin could be of enormous assistance in that effort ― since he’s doing the hacking,”
Senator Marco Rubio
Partnering with Putin on a “Cyber Security Unit” is akin to partnering with Assad on a “Chemical Weapons Unit”.
Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, equated Putin’s involvement in a joint cybersecurity venture to “letting the fox guard the henhouse.”
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, which is conducting one of the probes, called the cybersecurity proposal floated by Trump “dangerously naive” in a Sunday interview on CNN. He later tweeted that Americans “might as well just mail our ballots to Moscow.”
You get the idea. Apparently, the Donald still has not got his hands around the idea that the Russians hacked the election. He apparently still thinks that they may be innocent. Why? Because he wants them to be innocent. How else could you explain his idea?
And this is yet another example of the dude’s inability to separate reality from his own fantasies.
That, my friends, is frightening.
