Josh Barro offers some interesting thoughts on the politics of the health care bill just passed hy House republicans. His article starts off this way
There is something extremely Donald Trump about holding a celebration in the White House Rose Garden to mark the passage of a bill just through one house of Congress — especially when that bill faces considerable hurdles before it can become law, and especially when that bill is very unpopular.
No matter how silly this may sound — and it is silly — Donald Trump finally got something passed by at least one house in Congress. And Donald Trump sees so few victories these days, that this is a big deal for him.
I agree with Josh. It is highly unlikely that the senate and house will be able to agree on a bill to send to Trump for signature. So the partying will be forgotten pretty soon. And absent an unforeseen event that changes everything, the stage is set for a major shift in power via the 2018 elections. Bernie Sanders Tweet says it all
Donald Trump and Republicans just celebrated voting to let thousands of Americans die so that billionaires get tax breaks. Think about that.
The time is ripe now for the dems to get to work to make 2018 a real turning point.
