Carter Page is an interesting character. He was an outspoken critic of the Obama Administration. And he was openly friendly to the Putin crowd. It is not a huge surprise that US intelligence wanted to learn more about that relationship. It turns out now that the FBI obtained a FISA warrant to do just that.
More interesting is Page’s response
Page told Business Insider that he “was so happy to hear that further confirmation [of surveillance] is now being revealed. It shows how low the Clinton/Obama regime went to destroy our democracy and suppress dissidents who did not fully support their failed foreign policy.”
Destroy out democracy? And why was the Clinton/Obama foreign policy allegedly a failure?
… (Page) slammed the US for its “hypocritical focus on ideas such as democratization, inequality, corruption, and regime change.”
Strangely, Page leaves out George W. Bush in his attack. I say strangely because it was Bush who used military force in an attempt to “democratize” Afghanistan and Iraq., and who changed the regimes in both countries.
So what to make of Page? If he was indeed a Russian agent, you might understand his mentality. If not, the dude is a great example of the arrogance you find int political warriors. Any argument will do when you are fighting for power.
