Sixers, Twin Towers and Trade Value

The Sixers are embarking on yet another experiment. They are trying to pair Joel Embiid with another 5 – either Okafor or Moel. It didn’t work very well against the Raptors and it is not likely to work very well against the Lakers.

The downside is obvious. Pulling Embiid to the perimeter diminishes the Sixers best player. The bid dude belongs inside, not outside. It also takes away minutes from Saric and Ilyasova – two dudes who have earned minutes.

But there is an upside to this. It makes Okafor look good.  Embiid pulls a big out of the lane, and Okafor gets to feast on smaller prey. in the paint. And this may increase his trade value.

that is what this is all about, right? After all, there is no way the Sixers will hold onto 4 centers.  One and perhaps two have to go.
