What makes a certain recipe stand out? What give it that sense of irresistibility? The answer that comes to mind first is flavor! or perhaps texture and flavor!
While those things are indeed the mechanics of great eating, there is something that takes hold when the food is connected to memory. Memory of a person, or memory of a place. And so “grandma’s” around the world have great recipes, whether their cakes and pies were great or not.
