Remembering Uncle Milty

Uncle Milty is Milton Friedman, distinguished professor of economics at the University of Chicago. He passed away in 2006, but Uncle Milty has not really gone anywhere. His thinking is what conservatives reach for when they want to justify dismantling government.

Linette Lopez offers a very interesting post on why this is so, and what effect it has.

It is worth reading. The bottom line is that Uncle Milty knew nothing about governance. He knew nothing about politics. He was a man who believed in a theory of human behavior that history does not support. And all of his policy recommendations flow out of this theory.

And we follow his ideas as if he were a god.
